Refugees and immigrants arriving in the U.S. come with a wide variety of educational and linguistic backgrounds.  Some have no formal educational experience and come eager to learn basics like how to use a pencil and introduce themselves in English.  Others come with a high level of English and are able to assist with translation in our office. We partner with language learners of all ages as their confidence in speaking English grows. Our goal is to empower them to function and thrive in their new American context.

English classes are offered through partner service-providers including The Adult Learning Center (Spartanburg), English Crossings (Spartanburg), Mary & Martha Services (Spartanburg), Refuge Sports & ESL (Greenville), and Greenville Literacy Association.  Additional ESL services are provided through volunteer Language Partners and our In-Home Tutoring.

If you or your church are interested in serving the refugee community with ESL programing, please send us an email to with your name, telephone number, and a brief description of your interest.
